Why Weddings
Why weddings? This.
“The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right place, but to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the most tempting moment.”
While I absolutely adore the process of creating, experimenting with lighting, and meticulously posing an image, there are certain moments when I find it better to take a step back, allowing myself to gracefully retreat from the foreground and simply observe.
In these instances, I embrace the beauty of surrendering control and instead, invite the raw and authentic emotions of my subjects to effortlessly flow and take center stage. It is within these vulnerable, unscripted moments that true magic happens, capturing the essence of a fleeting instant with an unparalleled depth and resonance that no amount of artistic direction could ever replicate.
On a crisp summer morning at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles in Chantilly, Virginia, the air buzzed with anticipation as Kamal and Amani prepared for their Punjabi wedding ceremony. Before the main event, the couple shared a special moment - their first look and gift exchange. The serenity of the surroundings complemented the tenderness of the moment, making it an unforgettable chapter in their love story.
Amidst the gentle rustling of leaves and the occasional chirping of birds, Kamal and Amani exchanged heartfelt gifts, symbolising their affection and commitment to one another. The exchange was a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, showcasing their love and respect for their cultural heritage while embracing their unique bond. As they read through the messages for each other, time seemed to stand still – a precious pause before the whirlwind of their wedding day began.
This intimate and teary-eyed first look and gift exchange set the tone for the rest of the day, infusing it with warmth, love, and an overwhelming sense of unity, which even the rain later in the evening, during their outdoor reception, couldn’t dampen. It was a moment of connection, a glimpse into their shared future, and a beautiful beginning to their Punjabi Sikh wedding ceremony.
