New York & New Jersey Indian Wedding Photographer

Available throughout the New York metro area and New Jersey.

The Tri-State Area

New York and New Jersey together form one of the most active South Asian wedding markets in the world. Central and North Jersey, Edison, Woodbridge, Parsippany, the whole corridor has one of the largest Indian and Pakistani communities in the United States, and the weddings there reflect that density and scale. Multi-day Punjabi Sikh celebrations, large Gujarati and South Indian receptions, fusion weddings with couples from different backgrounds. The tri-state area does all of it.

I am based in Chicago and travel to New York and New Jersey regularly. The cost of flying a Chicago-based photographer to the tri-state area is frequently comparable to the day rate of a locally-based photographer at the same level, particularly for multi-day celebrations where the travel cost is spread across several events.

Venues & Locations

New Jersey

Royal Albert's Palace in Ford, New Jersey is one of the premier South Asian wedding venues in the state — large enough for the jago, sangeet, and reception that Punjabi celebrations typically require, with the production values to match. I photographed Perneet and Jaspreet's jago and reception here as part of their multi-day Punjabi Sikh wedding.

The Dashmesh Darbar Gurdwara in Woodbridge is one of the main Sikh places of worship in Central Jersey, and the venue for Perneet and Jaspreet's anand karaj ceremony. For Sikh weddings in the area, the gurdwara ceremony is the heart of the celebration.

New Jersey's hotel infrastructure across Edison, Woodbridge, and Parsippany handles the multi-day scale that large South Asian weddings require well. The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Woodbridge and similar mid-size hotels are frequently used for pre-wedding events and maayan ceremonies.

New York City

New York City's geography is its greatest asset for portrait and pre-wedding sessions. Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the outer boroughs offer an extraordinary range of environments within a few miles of each other, waterfront at DUMBO and Brooklyn Bridge Park, the architecture of Midtown and the Upper West Side, the open green of Central Park, and the elevated perspectives of the High Line and Brooklyn Bridge.

I have photographed portrait sessions across Manhattan and Brooklyn and know the city's light and locations well. For Indian couples based in New York or New Jersey who want portrait work that uses the city as the backdrop, the options are essentially limitless.
