On a cold winter morning in the canyons

6:30 AM. It’s still dark out, the sun no where to be seen. The bride-to-be is looking for accessories to match her outfit.

“Does this work?”, she asks.

“You look like an actress in an old Bollywood movie”, comes the reply.

“Perfect.”

The groom-to-be is ready to go and heads out into the car. I don’t know why, but seeing him in his suit, he reminds me of a young Dharmendra, one of the big Bollywood (as the North Indian film industry is called) stars from the 60s/70s.

Finally, we’re all ready to go, we step out of the door and Mother Nature reminds me, it isn’t a good day to be hiking in shorts. It’s 25°F/-4°C.

It’s all good though, we’re bundled up nice and warm inside the car… waiting for the ice to defrost off the windshield. The sun is trying to peek out, we don’t want to miss our light. Luckily, it’s only a short drive to our destination.

Zion National Park, located in the stunning state of Utah, is undoubtedly a true marvel of nature. As we embarked on our journey, the scenic drive leading to this renowned national park left us utterly astounded. Words seemed to fail us as we immersed ourselves in the breathtaking sights. Adjectives like magnificent, awe-inspiring, and jaw-dropping appeared to be barely sufficient to convey the sheer grandeur that unfolded before our eyes. The sheer magnificence of Zion National Park left us in absolute awe, and the exclamations of "Wow!" frequently escaped our lips, effortlessly capturing the transcendent beauty that surrounded us.

We had a spot picked out in the canyons to start our engagement session shoot, but it was becoming really hard to justify the trek up there when we had an amazing back drop right here.

We finally reached the end of the road. Time to start hiking up on foot in the cold. There are loose rocks and ice on the trail up ahead. Need a helping hand…

Who wants to test out the bridge first?

“It’s freeeezzziinngg! Look at my hands, they’re numb!”

“Don’t worry, we’ll get through this together. I’ll keep you warm.”

Was it all worth it?

Later on that evening, sharing a quiet moment together. Remembering what it’s all for.

Definitely worth it. Congratulations Chhavi and Saurabh on your engagement! See you at the wedding in Delhi.
