I finally had a chance to check out the Chicago Pride Parade for the first time. An estimated 850,000 people showed up this past Sunday to Lakeview East to watch and support the parade along with a small section of protestors. It was great watching the reaction of the crowd and being in the festive atmosphere, sharing in the love ;o). Some very vibrant and colourful outfits (and sometimes a lack of…) set the rainbow mood.
There were plenty of floats representing a diverse cross-section of groups including higher education institutions such as Elmhurst College and University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC), local businesses, various ethnic groups, religious groups and churches, local tv stations like ABC, Gay Chicago TV and Telemundo, local politicians and Obama-Biden supporters.
